June is one of our fave months because summer and... it's Father’s Day soon! While the amazing fathers in our lives deserve to be appreciated every day of the year, Father’s Day gives us a welcome excuse to truly spoil them. Here are some of our favorite ideas we’ve come up with this year. (Hey Zach, if you’re reading this… stop now unless you want to spoil the surprise!)
With all the tidying and organizing we’ve been up to so far this year, we’re loving the idea of gifting experiences rather than physical items for Father’s Day. Creating new memories together as a family can be so much more rewarding and enriching, too. Here in Los Angeles, there are plenty of Dad-approved activities to partake in together. For sports fans, you can’t beat a summer day at Dodgers Stadium - so round up the kids and treat Dad to a game and a Dodger Dog! Or, check out a family-friendly day out event like the Block Party at the Petersen Automotive Museum on June 15th, or make wind chimes with Dad at the Free Family Art Workshop at Barsndall Art Park. For Dads who love to cook, we love the idea of taking Bavette Meat & Provisions’ Father’s Day Beers & Brats class, where you’ll learn all the secrets for making delicious bratwurst - and get to enjoy a feast at the end of class! For Dads of creative kids, why not get your hands dirty and collaborate with the kids on a craft project? There are a zillion cute craft ideas on Pinterest, and this year we’re loving the “My Dad Rocks” photo frame idea, or the "We <3️ Daddy" plate idea. If your kids love experimenting in the kitchen, they’d love to help you make these cute DIY gummies from Oh Joy! Or, for older kids, we love this functional and beautiful leather keychain DIY from A Beautiful Mess.
If you’re wanting to get Dad a physical gift, too, that’s great! Think of this as an opportunity to support small businesses in your community by shopping for Dad around town or at your local farmers’ market. Or, check out some companies that are out there fighting the good fight by making high-quality Clean AF goods, supporting the environment, and giving back to their communities. Read on for some of our favorites! For the foodie dads out there, we’re loving Hedley & Bennett’s new Waxman apron - they’re both heavy duty and stylish, to keep Dad looking cool whether he’s cooking up a storm in the kitchen or outside on the BBQ! And he’s going to need something delicious to cook up on that BBQ, so how about treating him to Belcampo’s Father’s Day Feast Box? Packed with an assortment of Belcampo's 100% pasture-raised, organic meats, this box is a meat-lover’s dream that is both good for you and for the planet. Is Dad a veggie lover? Sign him up to receive a box of Imperfect Produce - this produce-delivery service offers delicious, fresh produce that’s slightly “imperfect” for 30% off grocery store prices, and in doing so is making a huge environmental impact!
For the active dad, how about a super high-quality and eco-friendly yoga mat? We’re obsessed with the Eko Yoga Mat from Manduka, which is extra grippy, incredibly durable, and is made from completely non-toxic, sustainably harvested tree rubber. Or, treat him to a beautiful and functional handmade ceramic stoneware growler, which is perfect for carrying both hot and cold drinks wherever you go. If Dad needs an excuse to treat himself, we bet he’d love this luxurious shave regimen set from Beauty Counter’s Counterman line, or this splurge-worthy, American-made leather belt from Tanner Goods.
On the morning of Father's Day, we are planning on making Zach his favorite breakfast, Buttermilk Pancakes drizzled with our NAKED Organic Peanut Butter & Honey and give him a million hugs and kisses. What’s your plan for spoiling Dad this Father’s Day? Let us know in the comments below!
