Dairy Free Potato Chowder

Yes it is possible to make chowder with no thickness, just add our Spread The Love Cashew Butter with some cashew milk and in no time you will have a creamy Dairy Free Potato Chowder.



  • 1/2 Medium Onion Grated
  • 4 Cloves of Garlic Grated
  • 8 Cups of Water
  • 1/4 Cup Spread The Love® BASIC Cashew Butter
  • 1/2 Cup Cashew Milk or other Nut Based Milk
  • 2 Cups of Potato, we used a mix of regular and sweet potato with various colors
  • 1 Teaspoon Salt
  • 1 Teaspoon Cracked Black Pepper


  • Step 1 -
    In a large pot add in the onion, garlic and water and bring up to a rapid boil. Add in cashew butter and milk and mix well so that there are no lumps. Add in the potatoes and bring to a boil. Turn down the heat to a simmer and leave to reduce for about 10 minutes. Season with salt and pepper.
  • Step 2 -
    To serve divide equally into 4 bowls.

  • I am vegan, my 2 daughter’s sadly are not, when I saw this recipe I knew it would be a winner! And with the creamy seed butter, they could not figure it out but loved! I will definitely be making that one again and again! Thanks again for the great recipe!!! Inexpensive, tasty, and easy… everyone should try it.
