Education is a powerful force that has the ability to shape lives, unlock potential, and foster dreams. In Racine, Wisconsin, the Spread The Love Forward Scholarship has been doing just that by recognizing and supporting exceptional students from local high schools. In this year's batch of recipients, we find Serena Vasquez, Georgina Huizar, Vanessa Rivas, Guadalupe Lopez, and Shelby Jennings – five individuals who will make a significant impact in the world.

Serena Vasquez

Graduating from Horlick High School in the top 5% of her high school class, Serena's future shines bright with potential. As a first-generation college student, Serena has defied expectations by earning her place at the University of Wisconsin – Milwaukee, where she will be majoring in Musical Theater with ambitions to become a mainstream singer and composer, eventually gracing the stages of Broadway. But that's not all – Serena's drive extends to the business world, where she envisions owning her own business someday.

Georgina Huizar

Georgina is graduating from Horlick High School, and is now set to begin her journey at the University of Wisconsin – Milwaukee with a major in Kinesiology. Georgina's passion for the medical field is palpable, as she aspires to become a physical therapist and make a meaningful impact on people's lives. Her involvement in various bands and her recognition as the "most outstanding player" in the Senior Lighthouse Brigade highlight her dedication and talent. Georgina's journey is a testament to her dedication and drive to excel in her chosen field.

Vanessa Rivas

Vanessa Rivas's exceptional qualities have earned her a place at the University of Wisconsin – Parkside, where she will major in Marketing. Vanessa's commitment to her community is evident through her involvement in the Y.E.S Club, Academy Ambassador Program, and Link Member Role, where she helps and empowers others. Her dedication to encouraging voter participation and assisting incoming freshmen demonstrates her belief in the power of positive change. Vanessa's ambition and perseverance will undoubtedly contribute to her successful future. 

Guadalupe Lopez

Graduating from Case High School, Guadalupe is ready to embark on her educational journey at the University of Wisconsin – Parkside with a major in Medical Laboratory Science. Guadalupe has a passion for healthcare and wants to help underrepresented members of the community. Her involvement in programs like the Distinguished Young Women Program and her volunteering efforts at the Humane Society, VITA, and Women's Resource Center reflect her dedication to making the world a better place. Guadalupe's determination to represent diversity in her chosen field is both admirable and inspiring.

Shelby Jennings

Graduating from Park High School, she is set to begin her academic journey at the University of Wisconsin – Madison with a major in Chemistry on the pre-pharmacy track. Shelby's passion for science is undeniable, and her dream of becoming a pharmacist is a testament to her dedication. Shelby's determination to break through the gender stereotypes of the pharmaceutical industry is a true inspiration for all aspiring change-makers. Through her studies and endeavors, Shelby is laying the foundation for a future of positive change.

 

As the Spread The Love Forward Scholarship recipients exemplify the potential of young minds to make lasting contributions to their fields and communities. Their stories inspire us all to embrace education, service, and empowerment, spreading love and positivity in every direction.
