Spring has finally sprung here in Los Angeles, and after the long(-ish) winter we had this year, we're feeling extra grateful for this warm weather! The longer days and climbing temperatures have got us feeling more excited than ever to get outside - whether that's for a family picnic, a day at the beach, an early morning hike, or a weekend camping trip.
Of course, all of these outdoor activities have given us a great excuse to come up with fun new snack combos to bring along on all our adventures - and with the launch of our new single-serve packets, it's easier than ever to bring Spread The Love® nut butters wherever we go! Here are some of our favorite ways to create a dressed-up meal or snack using our nut butters while you're on-the-go. Some can be made wherever you are (even in the car), and some will require a fire pit or camp stove, but we hope you'll find at least one recipe that you can try as you get outside this Spring - or, find inspiration to create your own!
Hearty Breakfast To Go
Oatmeal is a backpacking staple for its portability and nutrition - and if you've got access to hot water, it makes for a perfect healthy start to your day wherever you are! We love these Bob's Red Mill cups for their healthy ingredients, and with a few yummy additions like Spread The Love® Almond Butter, all-natural raisins, and sliced almonds, simple oatmeal becomes a hearty, filling meal in a convenient cup! These are a great office snack or breakfast, too - you can stash all these ingredients in your desk drawer and assemble when hunger strikes.
Sweet + Crunchy Wrap
When you want something creamy, sweet, and crunchy all at once, this peanut butter-banana wrap is the way to go. Simply slather a wrap with our Organic Peanut Butter, add a sliced or whole banana, sprinkle with your favorite granola, and wrap it all up like a burrito. We were inspired by The Kitchn's recipe for this concoction, and found that it's delicious even if you're not in a place in which you can griddle the wrap after assembling. Of course, if you're camping and are able to griddle the wrap over a fire, you're in for a doubly delicious treat.
Honeyed AB&A
This sandwich is inspired by the popular griddled PB&Js with Koru® Apples that we made for the St. Joseph Center event last month - and this version tastes equally delicious, even if you don't have access to a griddle. Spread almond butter over two slices of your favorite sliced bread, layer on thinly sliced apples, and drizzle with a packet of honey. If you're feeling extra-fancy, you can sprinkle on some flaky salt or pop it on a campfire griddle (or park grill, for that matter) until it's warm and toasty.
Peanut Butter S'Mores
This recipe is the ultimate Dockweiler Beach fire pit indulgence (or campfire indulgence, if you're spending the weekend in the wilderness). Sandwich a perfectly toasted marshmallow between a thick slice of chocolate, a generous drizzle of peanut butter, and two crisp graham crackers, and you're on your way to cloud nine! Our creamy Organic Peanut Butter really takes this classic to the next level - so be sure to bring some extra packets along for when your friends, family, and fire pit neighbors inevitably ask you to share.
Peanut Butter Hot Chocolate
Got some extra marshmallows from those peanut butter s'mores? Pop a kettle over your campfire and make a quick and easy batch of this warming hot chocolate - the perfect sweet treat to warm you on a chilly spring night (or, to cheer you up after that boring meeting at the office). Mix up a packet of hot chocolate mix with hot water, stir in a tablespoon or two of our Organic Peanut Butter, and top with marshmallows for an extra-creamy version of a childhood favorite.
Whether you're enjoying a day at the beach or spending a week backpacking in the wilderness, having healthy, clean, and delicious snacks on hand is essential - which is why we're so proud and excited to share our new single-serve packets with the world, just in time for warm Spring weather!
