Also known as Filipino Banana Lumpia. Indulge in a delightful fusion of flavors with our Chocolate Hazelnut Turon, a modern take on the classic Filipino delicacy, banana lumpia. With the luscious addition of Spread The Love Chocolate Hazelnut Dessert Butter, this dessert transcends the ordinary, offering an amazing blend of sweetness and richness.
Traditionally this Filipino Peanut Stew is served with oxtail. Taking the cooking time up to 6 hours. Making it vegan cuts down the cooking time to just 40 minutes!! Our organic peanut butter is used as a flavoring component along with annatto powder giving the stew a depth of flavor that is unexpected but so delish. Serve with white rice or cauliflower rice.
In the Philippines there is a staple breakfast called Champorado. Traditionally it’s made with sweet glutenous rice, tablea (a fermented 100% Filipino Chocolate) and topped with crispy dried fish. In our version, we replaced the sweet rice with heart healthy steal cut oats. It’s the best oats to use to mimic the bite of rice and replace the salty fish with our Spread The Love Almond Cashew Power butter.
Turon is the Filipino version of a Banana spring roll. It is normally fried in oil coated in brown sugar. Here we make a more wholesome version by baking the Turon. We also upped the good fats and protein factor by adding Spread The Love Unsalted Almond Butter for that extra drizzle.
A popular street food on the Island of Cebu, Philippines these are traditionally made with roasted peanuts and muscovado sugar. In our version these mochi balls are filled with a sweet mixture of peanut butter, roasted peanuts and a touch of date syrup. We added more crunch by coating the outside with more peanuts.
Bibingka is a Filipino snack cake that is made with rice flour and coconut milk. Traditionally it’s garnished with salty duck egg wedges, cheese and a sprinkling of sugar.
We thought we would bring an American twist to it by adding our Almond butter and replaced the duck eggs with some apple slices from Yes! Apples. We love them so so much because their apples are so fresh, sweet and crispy. They bake well too!
Sans Rival is Filipino dessert made with infinite layers of cashew meringue and butter cream. Being super decedent it only makes appearances at Birthday parties and Holiday Celebrations.
In our recipe we stripped it down to make it easier to make, but still has the soul of the recipe. We use an Australian dessert called Pavlova as the base and break that up into shards and cover it with butter cream. For a savory counter point we top it off with our new Almond Cashew Power Butter and some dry roasted, lightly salted cashews. So you get crispy, smooth, sweet and salty all in one perfect bite. The name literally means without rival. No other cake or dessert is better that this.
Food For The Gods are normally given as special presents during the holiday season in the Philippines. The ingredients are not easy to get and very expensive in the Philippines so to get them means you are very special. However, we are here in California where there is an abundance of dates and walnuts. So here is our version that you can make as edible gifts for special friends and family whether there is holiday or not. We also made it paleo-friendly by using vegan butter and cassava flour.
If you're familiar with Filipino food, then you might have heard of "lumpia" which are similar to fried spring rolls. Not all lumpia* is fried. There is a version called Lumpiang Sariwa or Fresh Lumpia. Traditionally it’s made with a soft wrapper that is filled with fresh lettuce and vegetables that have been lightly stir fried. In our version, we are turning it into a salad with a sweet and sour crunchy peanut dressing made with our NAKED CRUNCH Organic Peanut Butter.
